GSB | INC introduces White Ink on the HP 5500 Digital Press

GSB, a leading Digital Print Service Provider in Manhattan, is pleased to introduce white ink for our HP 5500 Indigo Press. In late November, Hewlett Packard's Indigo division flew in a technician from Israel to install version 7.5.4 of the HP Press Software as well as the hardware required to print white ink. This technology allows GSB to print on colored papers and produce true white color as opposed to relying on knockouts on white stock. Simply by dedicating one ink tank, one bid, and one solid add unit specifically to white ink, GSB can run true white ink without any threat of color contamination.

GSB is currently applying this technology to produce custom business cards and greeting/holiday cards. A value add that GSB has found with this technology is the ability to lay down a white background on a colored sheet and then print a 4 color image on top of it. This, essentially, allows our clients to produce a knockout white effect on a colored sheet which has never before been an option.
