Photoshop Preferences Color Separations: The two major methods of making color separations are high-end scanners, which directly produce CMYK, and color separation programs, such as Adobe PhotoShop. PhotoShop Separations: You must specify the settings in the Printing Inks Setup menu. You must specify the level of dot-gain in the dialog box. Practice has proven that dot-gain level of 23% is better. If you create separations, ensure that you save the setup in use before you make any changes in the Printing Inks Setup window. Total Ink Limit: 280%. Black Ink Limit: 95%. Black levels: Different levels of black generation produce good results, depending on the user’s preferences. Separation Setup Window: Once you make changes in the Separation Setup.
