UV COATING
GSB|Digital has in-house UV capabilities but only as an overall (flood) coating.
UV coating is a clear liquid spread over the paper like ink and then cured instantly with ultraviolet light. We have three different finishes:
Gloss
-
Satin
-
Matte
UV coating gives more protection and sheen than either varnish or aqueous coating. Since it is cured with light and not heat, no solvents enter the atmosphere.
UV coating is applied as a separate finishing operation. Keep in mind that this thick coating may crack when scored or folded.
UV coating of the surface of the cured film can be extremely reflective and glossy. 100 text and heavier weights of paper can be UV coated, however, cover weights are preferred.
